Interventions for Frailty

Exercise Recommendations

  • Should be individualised, progressive, at least moderate intensity, have a resistance component

  • Should ideally be supervised

Nutrition

  • Tools for nutritional assessment include mini nutritional assessment(MNA) and malnutrition universal screening tool (MUST)

  • Address and investigate loss of weight (as necessary)

  • Body Mass Index

ESPEN Guidelines for protein intake

  • Daily protein intake of 1.0-1.5g/kg body weight per day; individual needs vary depending on malnutrition risk

  • Those with severe CKD- 0.6g-0.8g/kg/day
